History

Timeline of Springfield Swimming Club History:

1954 - Springfield Swimming Club files its original charter with the State Corporation Commission.

1955 - Springfield Swimming Club opens its gates for the first season.  A waiting list for membership forms.

1972 - Springfield Swimming Club member, Melissa Belote, wins three gold medals at the Olympic games in Munich.

1992 - Springfield Swimming Club rebuilds its swimming pool facilities from the ground up.

2004 - Springfield Swimming Club member, Susan Williams (Bartholomew), becomes the first US triathlete to win an Olympic medal by taking bronze at the Olympic games in Athens.

2007 - Members of Springfield Swimming Club join together in a heroic volunteer effort to replace the bathhouse roof.  Springfield Swimming Club Board of Directors, with the consent of the general membership, revamps membership policies to better manage the club in changing times.

2007 - Springfield Swimming Club member, Mary Yarrison, wins the 1-meter title at the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships.

2014 - Diving boards get resurfaced, pool gets a new white coat, and new covers installed on all 3 pools.

2022 - All three pools are completely replastered, retiled, and new coping stones are installed all around the lip of the pools.
